Scarred by You Read online

When I started writing Scarred by You, I had every intention of publishing the book through the traditional route. It was only when you crazy book world bunch started demanding more words that I realised I wanted to bring you a story faster than the traditional route would allow. But it was a big change for me, and this book might not have made it to you as soon as it has without many truly amazing authors supporting me and, frankly, giving me the kick up the butt I needed to ‘go rogue’.

I am going to call out some of the authors by name who have given me words of encouragement or guidance, but there are so many that will be left unnamed and who are a true inspiration to me. Lea Robinson, Megan Saperstein, Rachel Brookes, Elle Brooks, Beth Flynn, Staci Hart, Meghan March, Andria Large, T Torres, Tillie Cole, Nikki Groom, Brittainy Cherry. You are all fabulous and I am forever grateful to you for your tips and support.

I want to give a massive shout out to all members of my street team, Carter’s Chic Cats, and the bloggers and reviewers who have helped promote Scarred by You. Your support humbles and overwhelms me. It has also brought me to tears at times. I cannot put into words how immensely grateful I am to each and every one of you.

Now, it is time to give an enormous thank you to the incredible team behind this book. Kia Thomas, you are a wonderful editor, and I think of you every time someone mentions California Dreams. Jill Sava, not only were you one of the people encouraging me to go indie, you are also a wonderful person. I am truly thankful for the skills you have that I most certainly do not. Sara Eirew, oh my gosh, I don’t have words. You couldn’t have got this cover more right. You are simply fantastic! To my betas — Jen, Linda, Diane and Megan — thank you so much for giving up your time freely and giving me honest feedback.

Finally, to those of you who have to put up with the fact my mood changes on a daily basis depending on which character I am writing. Those of you who let me be vulnerable when I need to be. And those of you who support me daily, no matter how irrational I might be at times. Sam, Jen, Nicola, Diane, Alan and, of course, my furry friend (who has to put up with me all day, every day and still gives me cuddles), I love you all tremendous amounts. I leave out too many friends who deserve a massive thank you. You know who you are and I am sending you big sloppy smooches.

LAURA WAS A full time lawyer until the book world grabbed hold of her and never let her go. Now, she is a hybrid author, publishing traditional and indie titles. She writes full time from her beach home in the Caribbean, where she lives with her husband and (beautiful) dog. She loves all things romance — the more angsty the better — dry martinis and dark chocolate.
